yesterday, i visited the brooklyn museum to view the frida kahlo: appearances can be deceiving exhibit. i was beyond inspired. i can honestly say i knew little to nothing about her but everything about her was exquisite. she became handicap after a car accident and it was here that she began her infamous self portraits. her personal branding was amazing. she wore traditional mexican wear which included oversized skirts and tops. she was known for wearing revlon makeup and her hair braided up with colorful flowers. she spent a few years in detroit, san francisco, and new york, but loved her hometown of mexico city the most. her art lives on through our culture and i’m happy to have witnessed her rare work.
